Sandra H. Olsen, Ph.D.

Sandra H. Olsen serves as director of UB Art Galleries. Her responsibilities include managing the Martha Jackson Gallery Archives, supervising Museum Studies Internships and curating exhibitions, most recently the traveling exhibition, Stephen Marc: Passage on the Underground Railroad. She initiated and administered a comprehensive exhibition of contemporary Chinese art, The Wall, curated by scholar Gao Minglu, in partnership with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Millennium Art Museum, Beijing (2005). In addition, she was Adjunct Professor at UB and taught the Museum Studies graduate seminar for 15 years. Before coming to UB, Olsen served for 21 years as director of the Castellani Art Museum of Niagara University, where she built the collection, curated exhibitions, planned the museum’s new construction and managed an award winning public art project and museum/school partnership. Olsen holds a B.A. in history from the University of Wisconsin, Madison; M.A. degrees in art history and education from Boston University; and a Ph.D. in art history from Boston University.
Sandra Q. Firmin

Sandra Q. Firmin has been Curator of the UB Art Galleries since 2003. She holds a M.A. from Bard College’s Center for Curatorial Studies (2002), and was awarded a Philadelphia Exhibitions Initiative Fellowship at Arcadia University Art Gallery (2003). Firmin co-curated the traveling exhibition Kim Jones: A Retrospective (with Julie Joyce). The exhibition was accompanied by the catalogue “Mudman: The Odyssey of Kim Jones” (MIT Press, 2006), co-edited with Joyce. Firmin recently organized Artpark: 1974–1984, an exhibition and publication (Princeton Architectural Press, 2010) chronicling the seminal years of an innovative residency program located in Lewiston, New York, just north of Niagara Falls.
Tom Holt

Tom Holt handles the safety and installation of artworks being borrowed, lent, and exhibited. He takes care of matting, framing, lighting, and other tasks involved in the exhibition of artworks. Holt received a B.S. in Visual Arts from SUNY New Paltz in 2002. Initially from Putnam County in downstate New York, Holt came to Buffalo in 2002 to be a part of vibrant arts community in Buffalo, New York.
Jennifer Markee

Jennifer Markee is a graduate of the University at Buffalo's ED.M program, with an advanced degree in Higher Education Administration. As Finance and General Operations Manager at the UB Art Galleries, Markee is responsible for managing the galleries' financial systems, daily gallery operations, and event logistics for gallery rentals and receptions.
Mary Moran

Long-time assistant to David Anderson, Mary Moran served as Gallery Manager from 1987-2000. Upon Mr. Anderson’s donation of the Gallery and a large collection of artworks to the University, she became Assistant Director of the UB Anderson Gallery. She coordinates the archival research materials for Anderson Gallery special projects and assists with development at the UB Art Galleries. Moran is a graduate of Daemen College.
Ginny O'Brien

Ginny O’Brien is an arts educator, lecturer, and practicing studio artist. She holds a M.F.A. in studio art from Syracuse University, a M.A. and B.F.A. with concentrations in textile design and art therapy from Buffalo State College, and a B.S. in Nursing from Wichita State University. O’Brien develops programming with a focus on temporary exhibitions and permanent collections for families, adults, K through 12 teachers, and those with developmental and medical challenges. She collaborates with exhibiting artists, workshop presenters, faculty and staff, and arts organizations to provide exhibition and collection accessibility and content that supports designated curriculum. O’Brien’s publications and collaborative creative works are included in arts, education, literary, and health-related journals. She serves on the board of Aspire of Western New York, Inc.
Robert Scalise

Bob Scalise manages all exhibition installation, collections care, and special projects at the UB Anderson Gallery. He has organized numerous exhibitions from the Gallery’s permanent collection including Antoni Tapies: Graphic Works (2005) and Abstractions (2006). A graduate of Daemen College, Scalise began his career as the Exhibitions Coordinator for the David Anderson Gallery in 1996. He serves as an advisor on numerous installations of artwork around campus including UB’s emerging public art projects.
Ken Short
Preparator/Installer, UB Art Gallery

Ken Short is a native of Buffalo. He earned his degree in art education from Buffalo State College in 1975. Short works closely with exhibiting artists, students, and professors to install and prepare work for exhibition at both the UB Art Gallery and the UB Anderson Gallery.
Jim Snider

As an administrative assistant, Jim Snider's background in computers is handy in keeping the network up-to-speed, and the networked computers running. Snider lends his experience when needed in the areas of event planning, photography, graphic design, research, public relations, and archiving.
Paul Wilcox
Maintenance Supervisor, UB Anderson Gallery
Paul Wilcox has been at the UB Anderson Gallery since 2002. He assists the gallery manager with special projects and installation of art works, and maintains the gallery so that everything runs well.
